Manoel Alvaro de Freitas Lins Neto

Manoel Alvaro Lins Neto has a major in Medicine from Federal University of Alagoas,Maceio-Al, Brazil. He Obtained a PhD in Gastroenterology Surgery in 2000,at São Paulo University, Brazil. Currentely is an Associate Professor of Gastroenterology Surgery at the Federal University of Alagoas. His research interests include colorectal cancer, molecular biology,intestinal constipation,HPV and inflammatory bowel disease. He has experience in medicine,focusing on proctology surgery, treating the following conditions: colorectal cancer and inflammatory bowel disease. He was awarded a patent for his research focusing on HPV treatment with an ointment. Currently he maintains an ambulators service at the Federal Hospital Prof. Alberto Antunes (HUPAA) and works in concert with a psycologist, nutricionist and a nurse,to perform treatment on patients with IBD. Currentely he is completing post-doctorate work at the Univesity of Calgary under supervision of Prof.Subrata Gosh and Dra.Marietta Iacucci adressing the research about a novel endoscopic definition of mucosal inflammation and healing in IBD using iScan and Cofocal Laser Endomicroscopy in vivo.
